First Aid & CPR Indiana
Indiana
No fixed first-aider-to-worker ratio is set by law. Indiana's state plan adopts 29 CFR 1910.151(b): when no infirmary, clinic, or hospital is in near proximity to the workplace, the employer must ensure that a person or persons are adequately trained to render first aid, with supplies readily available. OSHA guidance expects at least one trained responder per shift, with emergency care reachable within 3-4 minutes at high-hazard sites (up to about 15 minutes at low-hazard offices).
IOSHA and federal OSHA accept blended training (online coursework plus an in-person hands-on skills demonstration) for workplace first aid and CPR. No ban on online training; online-only theory is discouraged only where practical skills such as CPR cannot be demonstrated.
- IOSHA enforces the standard for both private-sector employers and state/local government workers (full-coverage state plan).
- No statutory minimum number of training hours; a recognized standard first-aid and CPR course typically runs about 6-8 hours.
